Welcome to the Parish of West Wigan
The Parish of West Wigan is a parish of the Church of England located in Wigan, covering the areas of Worsley Mesnes, Goose Green, Hawkley Hall, Marus Bridge, and Highfield.
It contains the church buildings of St James Centre in Poolstock, St Paul's Goose Green, and St Matthew's Highfield. We have lots of worship communities which meet in those buildings and elsewhere in the parish, such as in our church schools.
Easter 2024
We have lots of events and services happening across Easter. You are welcome to any of them and all our events are free.
Palm Sunday 24 March
In addition to our normal weekly services, we are hosting Olivet to Calvary by St Matthew's Choir and Friends.
6.30pm in St Matthew's Church Building Join us for an evening of music as we journey to Calvary together.
Maundy Thursday 28 March
10.45am in St Matthew's Church Building: Holy Communion
Join us for morning communion followed by refreshments in the hall.
6.30pm in St James Centre: Holy Communion
A service of foot washing, holy communion, and the stripping of the altar.
7.30pm in St Matthew's Hall: Seder Meal

Good Friday 29 March
10.30am in St Matthew's Church Building: Good Friday Service
Join us as we celebrate the risen Christ together as a family.
10.30am in St Paul's Hall: All-Age Good Friday Service
Join us for our all-age interactive Good Friday service, space to stop, think and respond to Good Friday.
2pm in St James Centre: Hour at the Cross
Join us for the last hour of Good Friday as we journey to the cross together, space to be still and reflect in the quiet.
Easter Saturday 30 March
11am-2pm in St James Centre: Faith Café Lunch
Join us for lunch and time to reflect on the meaning of Easter.
2pm-4pm at St Paul's Hall: Wigan West Easter Trail
Join us for a free afternoon of the Easter Train and win an Easter egg! With refreshments, crafts, and games.
6.30pm in St James Centre: Easter Vigil
Join us for our first celebration of the risen Christ on the evening of Holy Saturday.
Easter Sunday 31 March
6.30am at St Matthew's Cricket Field: Sunrise Service
Join us for our early morning service of Communion, with a fire and we sing and share in communion together followed by pastries and coffee.
9am in St Matthew's Church Building: Book of Common Prayer Communion
Join us for our traditional Easter morning service.
10.30am in St Matthew's Church Building: All-Age Communion
Join us as we celebrate the risen Christ together as a family.
10.30am in St Paul's Hall: All-Age Communion
Join us as we celebrate the risen Christ together as a family.

2pm in St James' Primary School: Lighthouse Sunday Launch and Feast
Join us as Lighthouse launches its Sunday service! This service is family friendly and will be followed by a meal.
